Lady Windermere’s Fan
What a treat from our client Fiery Angel! Last night I was lucky enough to watch a fabulously funny cast in “Lady Windermere’s Fan,” the second major production directed by Kathy Burke in a yearlong celebration of Oscar Wilde’s work at the Vaudeville Theatre.
The play had me in hysterics early on. I wouldn’t have expected anything less from a cast crammed full of comic talent (Jennifer Saunders, Kevin Bishop and Joseph Marcell “Geoffrey” from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).
Marcell was amazing as “Tuppy”, the besotted bumbling admirer of Mrs Erlynne. Jennifer Saunders shone through as the formidable Duchess of Berwick, there to stir the pot with her witty one-liners and humorous mannerisms.
Watch out for the rendition in the interlude, and remember “keep your hands off my fan, sir!”.
If you want to cheer yourself up during a dreary start to the year, buy a ticket! You won’t be disappointed.
