Ad of the Week – Campaign to End Loneliness

The Campaign to End Loneliness inspires thousands of organisations and people to do more to tackle the health threat of loneliness in older age. We all know someone who has been through it, and it might well happen to us one day too.

Research has shown that the effect of loneliness on health is comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Loneliness is a killer, and there’s just no excuse for it. Loneliness doesn’t have to be inevitable – we’re lucky – there’s a cure. But, in the words of Barry, ‘it requires a little effort’.

If we all were a little more kind, in a society with a little more compassion, dedicating a little more time to others – this problem would not exist.

No one should have no one – and it’s our responsibility to make this everyone’s business.

There are 1.2m chronically lonely older people in the UK. Could you go a week without seeing or speaking to anyone? This is a reality for them. And just because it isn’t happening to you, doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
