Amtico on DIY SOS: The Big Build
Be sure to watch BBC One’s DIY SOS: The Big Build on BBC iPlayer where our very own client Amtico, and their Spacia Bleached Elm flooring, were featured!
In March Amtico worked with Nick Knowles and the rest of the DIY SOS team to donate some of their flooring to the very deserving Shropshire-based Cooper family, 12 year old Matthew and his parents Sue and Leigh.
Unfortunately Matthew developed a cancerous brain tumour when he was just 10 years old. After an emergency operation to remove 90% of the tumour, Matthew was on the road to recovery – until his blood pressure suddenly became unstable, resulting in two massive strokes and paralysis. Having recently completed his final round of chemo, Matthew was ready to go home. However, his family home was now ill-suited to provide the specialist recovery environment he required. That’s where Amtico stepped in!
The house needed a downstairs extension to allow a carer to stay, along with a wet-room, physio space and social space. Matthew needed to be able to access the entire ground floor – otherwise, he would have had to stay at the hospital until alternative accommodation was found, meaning his parents would be forced to return home without him.
Amtico donated their Bleached Elm flooring, as it’s durable and hard-wearing – whilst remaining stylish and sleek – perfect for Matthew and his family. Amtico are thrilled with how the final home reveal turned out and hope everyone will agree that it looks effortlessly stylish and elegant – exactly what Matthew and his parents deserve.
If you enjoyed the show last night don’t forget to tweet Amtico (@AmticoFlooring) about it, and if you missed it you can see it here!
